| Hillman Trophy Success Sat 9 Aug 2008 |
| On Saturday 9th August, East Berkshire GC travelled to North Oxford GC to compete in the Quarter finals of this years Hillman Trophy. The team consisted of Mike Joyce, Joe O’Farrell, Paul Manning, Alan Harris, Martin Gibbs, Neil Ninian and Marcus Swanston. The first 3 matches, produced 2 wins and a half before the 2 stars of the team finished their matches to seal the win. Martin Gibbs, giving 4 shots, won 3&2, whilst Neil Ninian giving 6 shots won 5&4 to win the match. It was a great team performance away from home, on a tight, tricky course. The semi-final opponents are still to be decided, but we have a home draw, and any support will be welcome. The date and time of the match will be published once confirmed. |
| Charity Weekend a success |
 | The magnificent sum of over £12,000 was raised for the Sue Ryder Care, in the main from the overwhelming generosity of our members. |

| Tupling Tankard Suspended |
 | Unfortunately, due to an excessive amount of rainfall, the decision has been made to suspend this Sundays Tupling Tankard.
It will now be played on Sunday August 10th. |
| Captains Drive In Tue 15 Apr 2008 |
The captains drive in was on Saturday 12th April and over 80 people managed to brave the short rain shower to watch Paul Donnelly strike the ball into the right hand rough about 260 yards from the tee. Paul would like to give Jason Brant a special thank you for placing his flag in line with the white tee, "Just in case he missed it!!" and thanks to everyone that came down and bought a flag, we managed to raise £227 for the Sue Ryder charity.
If anyone missed the drive in, it is available on www.youtube.com, search for "Captains Drive In East Berkshire Golf Club 2008".

| Helping to Avoid Slow Play |
| Slow play at East Berkshire Golf Club is not generally a problem. The Committee have however been approached about slow play on Saturday mornings and in competitions.
On the morning of Saturday 23rd Feb, we provided all members with guidance around the time most members expected to be able to play 18 holes. We should aim for 3 hrs 30 mins, anything over 4 hrs is considered slow.
Please take the time to review the guidance on slow play which is the notice board in the club house and the pro shop. |

| Mail On Sunday Round 2 Sat 1 Mar 2008 |
| A good start to the season by both the men and ladies sections, both winning the first round matches in this team event. Sadly the men lost at West Byfleet in the freezing cold and wet conditions. Steve Barwick was teh only member of the team to pick up a point in a 4 v 1 defeat.
The good news is that the ladies march on towards the next round. Again! Well done.

| Juniors v First Team Sat 1 Mar 2008 |
| On the 1st March the Junior Team played a Fourball better ball match against the First Team legends selection. This match has become a launch pad for the teams to get into battle mode for the season ahead. As has been the tradition over recent years, the match was very competitive and some great golf was played along with some poor golf, Steve Bland will testify to that. The crunch match was the top match in which David Cowap and Neale Bishton were defeated by 1 hole by Ben Holland and Alex lodge. Alex made a birdie 3 at the last to win the game but he doesn't like to talk about it much. The overall match result was a draw, 2.5 v 2.5 so we look forward to next year and a rematch.
